When Harry Met Sally… |
If you ask anyone to name a movie that has to do with New Year's, they will name When Harry Met Sally… Inevitably. Definitely. As sure as Billy Crystal is odd looking, it will happen. And with good reason too – most movies released around the holidays choose to tap the obvious holiday event (Boxing Day), instead of New Year's. But this funny, entertaining movie builds to its climax at a New Year's Eve celebration. And in that scene, we finally get the big payoff. We see Crystal running through the streets of New York , trying to get to the party Ryan's attending. And when he does – bang, zoom – we have the finale that helped set it apart from Annie Hall, which was a concern for the director Rob Reiner, that the film was too much like Woody Allen's classic. It's a perfect ending that doesn't end on a down note.
