about this archive

sixosix
606mag.com is the archive of sixosix, a Chicago web magazine published monthly from January to December 2004 by Icarus Media LLC: art, music, nightlife, photo essays, humor and reader Q&A. "your city. your stories." All twelve issues are here, starting with issue 1, and you can browse every article, issue by issue.

what happened
The magazine stopped after its twelfth issue. The site stayed up for years, broke in a 2010 server move, was later hacked, and went dark.

the restoration
In 2026 it was restored from the Internet Archive's Wayback Machine, Common Crawl and the magazine's own server and database. Every issue is shown as it was published in 2004, with a few changes: comment and sign-up forms are gone, reader comments show names only, old addresses lead to the restored pages, and pictures have descriptions for screen readers. The original 2004 pages are kept unchanged in the archive.

the work is theirs
The words and pictures belong to their 2004 writers and photographers. If something here is yours and you'd like it credited or taken down, or you have pages or photos that are missing, write to rmarsh000@gmail.com.
