"For me, the appeal of the past was the sophistication, elegance, and dedication of the 1940s.
I discovered World War II reenacting. I have always enjoyed history, but soon learned how terrible my knowledge of everyday life during World War II was. Reenacting has given me a chance to learn of a history that is only learned through the words of those who were there."

subject: sad date: 07.17.2004 name: lori comment: I feel sadness but I think it is because I associate a lot of the "Vintageness" of these photos with the lifestyles of my grandparents, the so called "greatest generation." Listening to my grandparents reminisce about that period in history saddens me because I see them longing for their youth. It also saddens me because it seems like that was such a wonderful time to be alive in the U.S. But, as with any trip down memory lane, I’m sure it only seems that wonderful because my grandparents are only recalling the good times. Interesting comment though.
