Bubba Ho-Tep
There are directors who got their start directing future cult classics, and then there are stars who built their careers in cult films, like Bruce Campbell. There are a ton of the man's movies that would work on this list, most notably the Evil Dead trilogy, but this movie is somehow more … archetypal. And what better film to characterize cult film's archetypal star than such a movie? Campbell plays a nursing-home bound man who is either a) insane, or b) Elvis. The movie never really makes it clear which it is. He teams up with another resident who is either a) also insane, or b) JFK. Granted this man is black, so it seems like he's probably the former, but he does explain why the skin-tone change. It has to do with a CIA plot. It's a funny, funny movie. It's also kind of creepy. The two men, you see, are teaming up to stop a mummy from sucking their souls. Somewhat schizophrenically paced, the movie never had a chance at reigning the box office, though you can bet you'll find posters for the film in specialty shops (and dorm rooms) for the next 20 years at least.
