"The sparkle of my favorite costume jewelry from 1947 has more warmth and truth to it than any diamond tennis bracelet. The pristine-clean Sears Prosperity stove from 1939 found in the basement of a bungalow has seen more meatloaf and turkey than that shiny new Viking range available at Home Depot.
With vintage items comes a bit of their previous owners; their laughter around the dinner table and their prayers for their families at night."

subject: sad date: 07.17.2004 name: lori comment: I feel sadness but I think it is because I associate a lot of the "Vintageness" of these photos with the lifestyles of my grandparents, the so called "greatest generation." Listening to my grandparents reminisce about that period in history saddens me because I see them longing for their youth. It also saddens me because it seems like that was such a wonderful time to be alive in the U.S. But, as with any trip down memory lane, I’m sure it only seems that wonderful because my grandparents are only recalling the good times. Interesting comment though.
