For Peaches, and for the rest of the 96 percent of the population not defined as genetically pleasing to the eye, bravado is the only and best weapon. She has staked her entire career on the fact that because she tells us that we want to kiss her in the pants, over and over again, we will. She's right: We do. Her voice's insistent repetition coupled with the minimal, but driving, beats of early techno do not lull, but call into the audience a dare, a less-than-preverbal snake charmer. The formula is so simple that it could save all that bookshelf space in the self-help section: positive self-actualization.

This is the anthem for us, having just gotten out of the shower. Don't dry off; just stand wet and nude in front of the fogged glass above the sink. Listen to the chorus as Peaches coos, “I'm the kinda bitch that you want to get with,” and repeats. Watch as beads of water slide and highlight different curves of flesh while catching and pooling in other hallows of our body. As the song builds through insistence, it is no longer Peaches that we want to get with, it's us. Throwing so many varied outfits on our bed, still sing the empowering line though the song hasn't changed from the beginning 12 bars. We are that bitch – maybe not thin, we note, as taking the towel from around us, watching to see which parts are giggling more than others – but the one that others will want to be with, or at least make conversation with. Beats get louder, rougher, as we simply decide on something to wear, not the best outfit but that doesn't matter, and the voice is now slightly sneering. It is our voice, more forceful now that our shoulders have rolled back and our neck longer with the chin tilted upwards and out. And that voice is only sneering at the thought there might be someone out in this world that wouldn't want to be with us. Walking down the street towards the open black expanse of Thursday night, we think of that fictional person, we're going to find them and tell them and show them. We are the kinda bitch that you want to get with.
